In developing countries which are facing shortage of grains and oil cakes, the utilisation of poultry litter as a constituent of a concentrate mixture will save some portion of the feed ingredients. Processed poultry litter and chicken excreta in conjunction with concentrates have been fed to ruminants in small quantities.- Studies on Feeding of Grainless Ration to Landrace Sows

The feeding alone represent about 70 to 80 per cent of the total cost of pig production. With the increasing cost of maize and groundnut cake which constitute the major part of a conventional pig ration, production has become very expensive.- Urea and Molasses Impregnation of Oat Straw for Evolving Maintenance Ration for Hariana Bulls

Considerable quantity of oat straw is produced as a by-product after harvesting of oat seeds. Like other cereal straws, oat straw is also a poor quality non-maintenance roughage.- Nutritional Studies on Barbari Goats with a Composite Feed Containing Processed Poultry Litter

Several studies in recent years have shown that poultry excreta (droppings/ litter) can be fed to livestock after processing by diiferent methods\Droppings of caged birds contain very high amount of nitrogenous compounds.- The Effect of Feeding Dried Citrus Fruit Residue in Concentrate Mixture on the Retention of Nitrogen, Calcium and Phosphorus in Lamb

Under drought condition in 1975 most of the bamboo plants in north-eastern states of India flowered. Mature grains were collected and consumed by local people after roasting or moist cooking. The nutritive value of bamboo grains appears to be not known. Therefore, studies were conducted for the estimation of nutritive value of bamboo grains for mice, which may be used as a thumb value for human being.- A Study on the Proximate Composition and Nutritive Value of Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris) Grains for Mice

Limited informations are available on the use of poultry droppings/litter for making silages and reducing the cost of livestock feeding. In their studies poultry droppings were ensiled with green maize which also is a costly ingredient under the present conditions. Paddy straw is available in large quantity as a byproduct from the rice cultivating area for the feeding of bovine but it is deficient in both protein and energy besides important minerals and vitamins. In order to improve its nutritive value and to make it a sole maintenance ration, the paddy straw was ensiled with a high proportion of standard poultry litter along with a little amount of green maize and sugarcane molasses.- Utilization of Energy, Nitrogen, Calcium and Phosphorus of Paddy Straw: Poultry Litter Silage by the Calves
